About the memory: My favourite memories of fall are more feelings then memories. They are from early childhood, there is my great-granmother in them, her cat, the smell of freshly baked cake inside and the smell of smoke, dead leaves, and brisk wind outside. I tried to make a diorama from all these ingredients.
About the diorama: I though about thinking outside the box... in a box. This is the result I wanted to create a diorama where the ouside of the box, where you are looking from, is actually inside, and you are looking out - into the box, which contains infinite space. The street is really infinite because of the mirrors I used, so the actual space inside the box appears much bigger than it really is - like a wizard's hat
About the title: the title is obvious because of the mirrors, but it also has a metaphorical meaning, as a wish for a happy memory to last forever, though it never does...
Heartwarming. My grandmother grew up close to the Slovakian border, there are hills and forests and she knew well the birds and plants. She walked with me in the vine-hill, the trees were colourful, and we watched the birds and everything was so calm. Long time I didn't think on that autumn memory. Thank you for reminding me. Good luck for the contest!
It's so utterly adorable!
besides using mirrors in garden make the scene bigger!
