Three Raven Brothers

Description

Hair to feathers, arms to wings,
Mouth to beak: so the curse rings.

Hair to feathers dark as night,
Arms to wings for soaring flight.

Mouth to beak so you can tear
Meat from the bone bringing fear.

Men to ravens, words to caws,
Human fingers to sharp claws.

Men to ravens in Sun's shine
I know your fate, brothers mine.

Words to caws until night falls:
Then short rest in crystal halls.

Feathers to hair, wings to arms,
Beak to mouth that no more harms.

Ravens to men, caws to words,
To fingers the claws of birds.

Spring to summer, night to day,
Year to year fighting for prey.

No more! Should I even burn
Curse to freedom I will turn.

For the round 1 of "Team dArt Showdown" [link] , with the topic "Change".

We are a Slavic team (me, *jankolas and *SnowBerenika from Slovakia, and *DragonRider3 from Montenegro), so we decided to interpret the theme through Slavic folklore. Pavel Dobšinský was the most famous fairy-tale collector in the Slovakia, and this fairy-tale, called The Tree Raven Brothers is from his collection. It is similar to Andersen's Wild Swans: there are three brothers, turned to ravens, and their sister who has to free them by seven years of not speaking. The raven brothers live in a crystal castle as men during the night, and fly through the world like ravens during the day.

We decided to depict this change, together with the changing seasons in our works:
:iconsnowberenika: - Spring
:iconmirachravaia: - Summer (this one)
:icondragonrider3: - Autumn
:iconjankolas: - Winter

I like the structure and the flow of the content; definitely my cup of tea. Great poem.
