Contest prize for , who placed 3rd in the "Tree of..." contest organized by with her picture
She wanted a magic tree, and I wasn't content with my first version of this one, so I painted it again for her: [link]
In the heart of the Mountain, there is a great tree - the Tree of Tales. Its roots form mountain ranges, and its crown touches the sky. Living light is trapped in the leaves. As it grows, all tales of the worls are imprinted in its wood like tree-rings. When the tales reach a full circle around its trunk, the history repeats itself. The same tales, different people... and yet the tales always change slightly, for the tree grows.
Watercolour painting. The Tree of Tales is from my story, The Heart of the Mountain.
(P.S: Could somebody please tell me how to do the salt patterns in a watercolour painting? I tried it many times already, but never got the pretty pattern... (see the sky here). Do you need a special paper or colours?)
I like the strong, shiny colours. The patterns are awesome, too. Lacking words here. *has a chaos of German and Dutch words in her head, hardly can find the right English words*
